It is the photographing of ordinary things in extraordinary light, which results in extraordinary photographs.
— David Young

I am a wife, mother, chicken-lover, dog-chaser, avant-gardner, artist, and a dreamer.  I grew up in a lot of different places, from Guam to Florida to California to Washington to Italy to London, England (where I went to high-school and met my husband).  I graduated from the University of Washington in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Visual Art.  I have always enjoyed photography, but it wasn't until my college years that I began taking photography courses and learning more about photography as a medium for artistic expression.  Back then I was shooting film and developing my own film in a darkroom.  Fast forward a few years and I went through a period of time where I was completely digital.  I taught myself the ins and outs of shooting with a DSLR camera and experimented with a lot of different things that digital technology had introduced to the photography world, but in the end I found myself yearning for that traditional "film look."  Now I have come full circle and started to dabble in film again.  You may have noticed that birth photography is my passion.  I am also a birth doula and childbirth educator and I am currently completing pre-requisites for a Master's degree in midwifery in order to become a Certified Professional Midwife.  I have four children, my first was born by cesarean section, my second was a hospital VBAC, and my 3rd and 4th were born at home in our living room. I love chatting about birth, so don't hesitate to ask me any questions!  When I'm not photographing a new life coming into the world, I enjoy photo-journalistic family/lifestyle photography, event photography, and portraiture.  My goal is to make images that are raw, meaningful, magical, and sincere.  Thank you for visiting my website.
